RESTAURANT MAKEOVER, THE EMPRESS

ABOUT

Welcome! I'm Lisa North and I started BluMorpha after over a decade of commercial and residential interior design. Having spent many years in a fairly materialistic and often wasteful industry, I began to feel a lack of meaning. Yet, I always adored hearing compliments from visitors about my rather original style and décor in my own home. I use art and furniture that I have created or redesigned, including family heirlooms and 'found' items to which I've a given a makeover. Modernizing old pieces has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager. So I began redoing pieces for clients, and started creating custom pieces from salvaged materials. What began as a hobby became an integral part of my business.

Today I specialize in the transformation of spaces by and combining the old with the new. A client's favorite piece given a modern twist is often the catalyst & inspiration for their new look. Let’s face it, they just don’t make it like they used toAs they say, "one wo(man)'s trash is another's treasure".

My business is an homage to the women who raised me. My mother and grandmother were incredibly resourceful women who lived through The Great Depression. They both had a wonderful sense of style and cared deeply about keeping a beautiful home. For them, re-purposing was intuitive and essential.  I was blessed to have their skillful creativity passed on to me.  This has become particularly helpful, as we find ourselves faced with a recession and an economy that requires most of us to reduce our carbon footprint AND our expenses.

After personally managing two family estates, I discovered another passion that I integrated into my work: Estate and Content Sale Management is an additional service I offer to select clients.

I also love to share my knowledge with the community through DIY Home Decor workshops. My practical classes give participants the space, skills, and tools to breathe new life into loved but tired furniture; and to make stylish and unique decor & artwork for their homes.

My priority is to do my part in helping reduce waste, impart a client's personality and history, to create beautiful and comfortable spaces tailored to the individual personality of my wonderful clients!
